Foundations of Faith Community Nursing
When: May 1, 2 & 15, 16
Where: Mount Carmel College of Nursing, 127 S. Davis Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43222
Cost: $395; reduced rate of $300 for current employees of Mount Carmel Health System, alumni of Mount
Carmel College of Nursing, and congregational partners of Church Partnerships.
The Foundations of Faith Community Nursing course offered at Mount Carmel is a nationally endorsed
curriculum from the International Parish Resource Center. It is an opportunity for Registered Nurses to
merge health ministry with a faith community by integrating spirituality into the nursing practice. Faith
Community Nursing is recognized by the American Nursing Association as a specialty practice of professional
nursing.
A Faith Community Nurse (FCN) may serve as a paid or unpaid member of a congregation’s staff while
working within their faith community to establish or sustain a health ministry program. With the intentional
focus of spiritual health, a FCN uses nursing interventions of education, advocacy, referral, resources, and
coordination to provide health promotion, health education, and disease prevention. Modules covered are
spirituality, professionalism, community, and holistic health.
Attendance is required for all classes
in order to complete the course and
receive 34 contact hours.
