My business is all about…..

YY&D is a unique consultative partnership, between two Yawuru sisters with educational, professional and life experience that can make a difference. YY & D specialises in a number of fields including event management, public relations, stakeholder management, project management, system design, community engagement and consultation. We do so with a specific interest in cultural celebration and awareness, art, rodeo and youth engagement.

The thing that motivates me the most is……

YY & D is especially motivated by the potential social impact of our work. We have a particular interest in Indigenous advancement and tackling the issues that affect our community. We are constantly looking for new opportunities to use our skill sets to help our community.

The most courageous thing I have done so far in my life is…..

Taking the risk to set up our own free-lance consulting and event management business in a small community. Living by the motto ‘you say I dream too big. I say you think too small.”

The biggest lesson I have learnt to date is……

That every day for indigenous people is a battle, but we have to be the change we want to see in the world. It is the responsibility of all aboriginal people to lead, and for new leaders to come through and act as change agents, which is how we at Yum Yum & Delicious see ourselves. We are proud of those who have forged the way and pay homage to our elders but it is now time to take an active role and be supported to have a voice to combat the numerous social issues affecting Indigenous communities.

If I could give my 16 year old self any words of wisdom, it would be………

To believe in yourself, be courageous, ask more questions, don’t sweat the small things, eat, love and laugh with your family and cherish the time you have with loved ones.

If I had to give other entrepreneurs a piece of advice, it would be……..

Don’t believe in the word can’t, back yourself, believe in local talent and share the journey with other like minded people, pay forward opportunity to others when appropriate. And think outside the box.

My favorite quote / or something I really believe in is…..

“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

“Culture eats strategy for breakfast”

“You say I dream too big. I say you think too small.”
