manners MATTER 100 E BY KAREN LA CORTE xercise! You either love it or you hate it. Or, if you’re like me, you have a love/hate relationship with it. I actually hate to exercise but love the health and fitness benefits of it. I realize that it’s not a luxury, but a necessity for a strong body and mind that makes us feel good about ourselves and benefits us as we age. That being said, I need to be held accountable for my work-outs. Truth be told, out- side of walking my dog, if I didn’t have a trainer to make sure I show up and work all the muscle groups, I probably wouldn’t be as strong or as fit as I am today. I have been with fitness trainer Linda Pulido of Pulido’s Pro Fitness for 17 years now! Yes, 17 years. We’ve become besties through it all. She gets me. She understands that there are times due to varied energy levels, that there are days when a modified work-out is in order. I think that’s why she’s so successful as a personal trainer. In my life, it can’t be a perfect work- out everytime. I may come in with one eye open, but I figure eventually through the workout the other eye will open and I’ll leave the gym happy that I didn’t decide to stay home and shine it. This is the fitness age. We all try and find some- thing that works for us and our busy schedules. Whether it’s walking, hiking, running, weight train- ing, swimming, or group fitness classes, there are definitely rules of etiquette that should be followed. Like anything else, kindness and respect are always in the forefront and let’s not forget about how important safety is. Not everybody goes to the gym. But any time there are other people involved, etiquette has a place. Remember, etiquette i
