Fidel Castro Ruz. His Legacy Will Live Forever
Today, November 25, 2016 Fidel Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution has passed away. His
legacy will live forever.
In all major regions of the World, the Cuban revolution has been a source of inspiration in the
relentless struggle against colonial domination and US imperialism.
Fidel Castro was the embodiment of these struggles against imperialism, committed to a World
of Peace, a World of truth, where people join hands, a World of understanding, a World of tolerance
and respect.
Fidel’s passing occurs at a time of crisis and upheaval of the World capitalist system.
The World is at a critical crossroads. At this juncture of our history, most progressive movements
towards socialism u nder attack ideologically and politically through US led wars, military interventions,
destabilization campaigns, coups d’etats.
His enormous confidence in the struggling masses and their ultimate victory — expressed in his
heroic speech to Batista’s court, “History Will Absolve Me” — enthused young fighters for justice in
Cuba and all over the world, from Latin America and the Caribbean to Africa, Asia and the U.S. itself.
He armed the Cuban people with internationalism, solidarity, unity and an iron will to defend their
independence and sovereignty. Fidel stormed the fortresses of the brutal servants of the reaction at
a time in history when U.S. imperialism was riding high. The monopoly capitalists were outraged when
he offered new hope for a socialist future just as they were gloating over the eternal victory of capitalism.
Defying the embargo and encirclement by the US imperialism, he led the people of Cuba in their
tryst to build a new society with thoroughgoing land reforms, nationalization of foreign capital including
the landed estates, providing education and health. Cuba made giant strides in eradicating illiteracy,
unemployment and diseases. Its achievements are an example for the ideal medical services.
The socialist transformation in Cuba continued despite US blockade. Let us be under no illusions by
the US imperialist drama of normalization of relations with Cuba.. Washington’s intent is not only to
destroy and undermine the Cuban Revolution but also to erase the history of socialism.
And lives Fidel ….
The struggle against imperialism, its neo-liberal policies and unjust wars nonetheless prevails.
