The drone industry is one that could literally take off in the UK according to research carried out by PwC.
They estimate that drones could add a whopping £42bn to the economy and create nearly 70,000 jobs by 2030.
This is estimated by several companies and enterprises buying in and making the most of the look and feel of media that a drone produces. Its beautiful aerial shots can make even the dreariest of landscapes appear to be a countrified wonderland.
Retail of the drones is set to have the largest percentage growth of those buying drones with an estimated 2.5% increase or £7.7 bn. Whilst the retail of drones to the public could stimulate a lot of growth, it is thought that the defence sector could contribute the biggest value at £11.4bn to the UK economy.
It’s not just those industries that could help contribute the rise of the drone. Because of their great productivity and increase in popularity, more people should be able to fly them, being able to navigate the controls of the flying camera. Media and Technology companies stand to save £16bn because of better productivity from this.
Currently, drones are looked at as toys by many with a lot of drone users also using theirs for professional services and purposes. With an increase in the amount of drones, more people will be needed to sell them, to build them, fix them and more – leading to a whole new wave of jobs unheard of before.
The UK has the chance to be at the forefront of the drone revolution. If they can set an example to the rest of the world, there is no reason why UK drones can’t fly higher than the competition in the years to come.
