Little Pioneers, Early Little Pioneers
Wander Woods Workday
[Ages 4-5]
[Ages 11-15]
We encourage your child to run, explore, and discover the
outside world. Your child’s sense of wonder is engaged as we
set out to discover the arrival of spring, welcome back our
feathered friends, greet the winter sleepers and experience
nature blooming with colors. Activities include nature
literature, science, crafts, songs, games and outdoor fun.
Please dress for the weather.

This spring break, take the time to give back to your local
community by volunteering to remove invasive species and
improve habitat for native plants and animals alike. Wear sturdy
shoes and clothes for being outside that can get dirty.
Registration is required; please call 847.433.6901 to register.
Participants who register for Survival Skills may bring a sack lunch
and stay at Heller between programs. Max: 20.

Kindergarten Naturalists
[Grade K]
Being outside fosters your child’s sense of wonder and caring
for the earth. We’ll use our senses and scientific tools to
welcome spring. Hands-on exploratory learning encourages
inventive problem solving, promotes creativity, and stimulates
the imagination. Science will be incorporated with naturebased literature, art, games, and movement.
Please dress for the weather. 8 weeks. Min/Max is 6/9.

Survival Skills
[Ages 11-15]
Start a survival fire, build a shelter in the woods and practice
your archery skills with friends!
Activities are subject to change. Participants who sign up for the
Wander Woods Workday may bring a sack lunch and stay at Heller
between programs. Min/Max: 6/12.

Animal Antics Field Trip
[Ages 7-10]
Take a field trip to the Lake Forest Wildlife Discovery Center
to meet their many and varied animal friends, enjoy a picnic
lunch, then return to Heller for animals games and crafts.

Magnificent Mud
[Ages 6-10]
Get outside and get dirty! Let Heller staff take care of the
messy part of playing in mud with the kids. We’ll explore mud,
puddles, small ponds and streams, make mud paintings and
mud pies and more. Waterproof boots, warm waterproof layers
and a change of clothes for the ride home recommended.

Zipline Adventure
[Ages 11-15]
This spring break fly through the trees on a canopy tour and
see the forest like never before. Heller staff is leading a trip to
Lake Geneva for an afternoon of zip lining through the hillsides
overlooking Lake Como.
Transportation and all safety gear and instruction are provided.
Participants must weigh at least 70lbs. Please dress for the
weather. Min/Max 6/13. Registration will end Mar 23.
