In This Issue Thriving in a Kaleidoscopic World “ We inhabit a universe that is characterized by diversity,” said Desmond Tutu, Archbishop of Cape Town. Archbishop Tutu, a strong advocate for chiropractic, spent his entire professional life spreading the message that diversity is a great benefit to society and something to be celebrated. Canadian chiropractors are fortunate to work in an environment that has embraced the Archbishop’s theme. Canada is a kaleidoscope of different faiths and ages, cultures and genders. This issue of ON Chiropractic will celebrate our multiculturalism and examine how to embrace diversity in practice. First, a review of research focusing on how to bridge any gaps in your understanding of a patient’s cultural, ethnic, religious, socioeconomic, age and gender identities will be combined with a synopsis of current best practices. Then, lessons learned by chiropractors working abroad will provide a rich context for those tools and skills. ON Chiropractic’s standard departments offer an overview of the requirements of the Employment Standards Act and the responsibilities associated with maintaining your FSCO Service Provider Licence. Finally, we will introduce you to an array of inspiring colleagues who recently received OCA Awards in recognition of their contributions to the profession. We hope these stories inspire you reflect on how you care for your multicultural community. We’re here for you. ON Chiropractic is a member resource of the Ontario Chiropractic Association.
