The Dawson County Education Perspective By Dr. Damon Gibbs, Dawson County School Superintendent Dawson County School District has been eagerly preparing for the return of its students and staff throughout the summer. The school district’s employees and teachers will welcome back approximately 3,400 students for the best year yet. The school district is ready and prepared to enter phase two of the 6 th -12 th grade realignment. Dawson County Middle School will continue to house students in sixth and seventh grades, while all eighth and ninth-grade students will attend Daw- son County Junior High School. The realignment will allow the system to provide more academic opportunities to its students, which include providing advanced curriculum for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders and offering academic and elective high school credit courses to eighth-grade students.
