In 2011, the CDF assessed the technical and financial
feasibility of a companion Synthetic Aperture Radar
(SAR) for Sentinel-1.
The CDF supported the ExoMars mission, and for
the first time applied the concurrent engineering
methodology all the way through from conception
to implementation of the mission.

The Asteroid Impact Mission is
undergoing preliminary design work
(phase B1) after being studied at the
CDF. The mission will chart the
smaller body of the Didymos binary
asteroid.

studies of the Clipper ESA Orbiter
and Clipper ESA Penetrator which
investigated Jupiter and its
moons.
In 2002, the CDF assessed the
exclusive use of solar electric
propulsion technology to fulfill the
BepiColombo mission to Mercury.
The mission has scheduled a
launch for 2018.
