to Gilroy and
Morgan Hill

hings got “curiouser and curiouser” as the City of
Gilroy celebrated the adventures that await a young
girl in a wonderland she discovered by following a
white rabbit down a rabbit hole. Alice in Wonderland Jr.
was full of fanciful characters, including talking animals, an
unusual Queen, a bubbly-blowing caterpillar, and a mad tea
party. The musical was directed by Carol Romo and featured
a cast of over 80 local youth excited to share their talent for
acting, dancing, and singing with their community.
The production was presented by the Gilroy Recreation
Department and featured youth form ages 6 to 15 from over
seventeen different local schools. The show was based on the
1951 Disney film, Alice in Wonderland, and the novels. It
was a fast paced adaption of the timeless film, featuring dia-
logue and new arrangements of such classics Disney songs as
“I’m Late,” The Un-birthday Song,” and Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah.”
If you missed the production in Gilroy, you haven’t
missed out altogether; you have the opportunity to see Alice,
Through the Looking Glass in Morgan Hill. Produced by South
Valley Dance Arts, the play runs June 16th at 7 pm and June
17th at 1 pm and 6 pm at Ann Sobrato High School, 401
Burnett Avenue, Morgan Hill.
The production is a full-scale ballet productions of Alice’s
adventures, focusing more n how her story continuees
in Through the Looking Glass and features some amazing
dancers: Alison Tapia, Meghan Horowitz, Madelyn Guinn,
Mandy Montoya, Derek Musgrove, Michael Wright and
Danny Tran.
