Get ready for summer by injecting light and bright seasonal colour into your closet. Say goodbye to
subdued tones and instead opt for a fresh palette of white, peach, coral, cyan, yellow or floral print.
For outfit inspiration I’ve chosen 5 must-have pieces to help you create a stylish summer wardrobe.
The Capri Pant
Otherwise affectionately known as the ankle grazer,
the capri is a timeless summer staple and a nice
alternative to wearing a full length pant or a knee
length short. In the warmer months I can’t go past
a crisp white capri in either a lightweight denim or a
breathable stretch cotton. White compliments most
other colours perfectly, however if it isn’t for you try
another neutral shade like taupe, cream, metallic
grey or stonewash denim for a similar effect.
The Sundress
Sundresses feature so prominently in summer that it’s
hard not to want to fill your wardrobe with them which
by the way, wouldn’t be a bad thing! A sundress is
refreshingly easy to wear in the sticky summer heat
but they are also one of the simplest ways to make a
style statement. For instant impact I’d recommend a
bold stripe or solid block colour like burnt orange or
magenta. Or for a more subtle look go for a tribal print
in earthy tones or try pastel shades.
The Cropped Denim Jacket
Off The Shoulder Top from Mirrou $9.90
Denim Jacket from Just Jeans $89.99
White Mila Girlfriend Capri from Max $89.99
Boho Dress from Millers $20.00

The cropped denim jacket is a summer BBQ
essential and works so well over a sundress, summer
tee or floaty top. The shorter cropped length allows
for those bright summery prints to still stand out
while also keeping you warm when the wind picks
up and the sun goes down. While I would suggest a
whitewash denim, stonewash blue and indigo blue
work equally well against light or bright colours.
The Geo-print Swimsuit
This season’s swimsuit trend has a geometric vibe.
Think cut-outs or sheer-panels in one pieces and
bold prints with angular shapes and strong colour
contrasts. My advice is to choose your swimsuit
with style in mind. Make sure it feels comfortable to
wear and then experiment with other colours in that
style. For a two piece try mixing and matching the
top and bottom for a fun and inexpensive update.
The Off The Shoulder Top
Expect to see a lot of tops and dresses that sit
off the shoulder or feature shoulder cut-outs.
What I most like about an off the shoulder top is
that it can be an incredibly flattering style to wear.
By creating a peek-a-boo effect, your upper arm
is only partially exposed which makes it both
comfortable and eye-catching.
