On February 10, Israeli Consul General David Siegel will hold a Town Hall meeting at the Alpert Jewish Community Center.

Consul General Siegel will update attendees on the issues currently facing Israel and its neighbors in the Middle East, followed by a Q&A session. Looking forward to the event, Consul General Siegel said, “This is a real opportunity to engage with Israel. We want to hear what's on the minds of the people in Long Beach, and we'll be able to go much deeper in discussing those issues.”

The idea for the Town Hall grew out of a meeting that Siegel had several months ago with Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, who will also be on hand for the event. Beyond discussing Middle East politics and security, the Consul General will also highlight some of the ways that Israel can serve as an effective partner with local business and governmental interests in the areas of drought prevention, port security, cybersecurity, and the greening of the Port of Long Beach.

“The opportunity to bring a senior representative of Israel, like Consul General Siegel, to our community is wonderful,” commented Jewish Federation CEO Deborah Goldfarb. “It is my hope that that this event will open the eyes of many in our community as they hear what is going on in Israel and the amazing impact Israel has on the entire world.”

Prior to becoming Consul General in 2011, David Siegel served as Chief of Staff to Israel's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
