2016 Club Marine Pittwater Sail Expo
The 2016 Club Marine Pittwater Sail Expo held over Saturday
March 5 and Sunday March 6 hosted by the Royal Prince
Alfred Yacht Club was another successful event now running in
its fifth year.
The Club was also open for visitors to experience, with a
wealth of history on display in and around the Club, visitors
were welcome to explore the archives on display and see, first
hand, the Club’s rich sailing history.
The sunny autumn weather welcomed hundreds of visitors
through the doors to see all the exhibitors and vessels on
show. With live music playing and the smells of the chef
cooked barbecue wafting through the air, the marketplace
atmosphere made for a great day for the whole family.
In summary, it was a great weekend enjoyed by all. Both
exhibitors and visitors were very happy with the event. The
Expo, now being in its fifth year, still has a strong presence in
the sailing world and local community as Sydney’s premier
Sail Expo. In 2017 the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club will
be celebrating its 150th birthday and the 2017 Club Marine
Pittwater Sail Expo is set to be a great event with the Club
displaying their achievements through 150 years of sailing.
B and C arms of the marina were colourfully decorated with
yachts and catamarans open for tours including the interactive
tours of the famous Wild Oats X. This year, the Club Marine
Pittwater Sail Expo welcomed the inclusion of several yachts
being displayed for the first time ever in Australia.
Visitors were also treated to test sails on the new Corsair Pulse
600 trimaran and, for those willing to get a little wet, were
welcomed to take out a SUP for a demonstration run. For
those who felt competitive on the day, HARKEN brought their
Grinder Competition which tests out your strength, stamina
and technique in a simulation of what it takes to winch lines
on a racing yacht.

Moving away from the marina, the Clubhouse and the Club
lawn were deck out with marquees filled with marine products
on display. Many exhibitors brought their own unique
products to the Expo and found it a great opportunity to meet
directly with their customers.
