In April a group of women from Lamont Wesleyan
Church will go on a mission trip to Haiti to provide Haitian
women with hygiene supplies and education.
The group will travel with Truth Evangelism Ministries
to help people in an area called Z’Orange, which is made up
of many small villages. In addition to health and hygiene
education the women will teach ministry.
The women will deliver special kits with handmade

sanitary napkins, over-the-counter medications, bandages,
ointments and more.
“Women are women, mothers are mothers, no matter
where they are in this world, and women face so much adversity when it comes to trying to survive every day and
feeling the obligation to keep their children healthy and
safe,” said Jola Casey of Madison.
The women and teen girls of Haiti struggle due to lack of
resources available during their menstruation cycles. They
have to miss a week of school or work because they don’t
have access to appropriate products. The church comes to-
gether to make hygiene kits to give to the women and girls.
The washable napkins will last about a year and can provide
women protection they need to go about their daily lives.
Organizers also provide education, however as many of the
women don’t understand why or how their monthly cycle
works.
On the last mission trip, Casey was able to take about 75
health kits for women in need, but this time they are hoping
to take 100.
