shalah Michelle Wright is a 13-year-old aspiring pastry chef who decided to start her very own bakery in February of 2016. Although this started her adventure of becoming a 12-year-old business owner, her love for baking happened well before then. Growing up in a single parent household, she remembers helping out by cooking meals for her mom and brother starting at the ripe age of 8. She soon fell in love with baking. Today, Chef Ashalah Michelle is the head chef at her bakery, Cook Me Up A Notch Cookies, Cakes, and Other Culinary Creations. She offers an assortment of southern desserts from red velvet cupcakes, banana pudding in a jar, cinnamon oatmeal raisin cookies, and much more. Being the president of youth services for my families' nonprofit Greater Giving Ministries, I continue in these 7 years to serve my community. Within our nonprofit, we address youth hunger within working-class homes. Focusing on resourcing kids with food, educational resources, art therapy/development and entrepreneurship. With my business, Cook Me Up A Notch, I am able to extend our fight against hunger by also teaching kids how to prepare simple meals safely while home alone, as we provide groceries as well.
