April 2014 Volume 5, Issue 1 Bellows Falls Middle School 15 School Street Bellows Falls, Vermont Terrier News 05101 802-463-4366 www.bfmiddleschool.org Upcoming Events: Colonialism in a Post Establishment Era  April 14-18 - Ms. Davis and her students have spent time in all of the thirteen colonies and have discovered the unique differences of each one. Now that the colonies are established, the Native Americans are having a difficult time holding on to what was once theirs. The French are competing with the British for land and this heats up enough to start the French and Indian War. George Washington and the colonists are working with the British to keep what they believe is their land. The French acquire the help of the Native Americans and so it begins. This battle helps the British establish a firm hold on the lands of the thirteen colonies and then some. King George needs to pay for this war, and wars abroad and he sees the colonies as an excellent way to do this. He and Parliament decide to tax everything that is sent to the colonies. This begins the start of another turbulent time that the colonists have to endure. The Revolutionary War will rage, while the colonists try to establish their own independence from England. Our fledgling government will struggle to survive, and some historical documents will be created before all is said and done.  April 27th - Band Vacation Friends Ham Jam  May 1st - 7th Grade Girls to Dartmouth Sister Sister Workshop  May 1st - CSA/PTO Meeting 6:30pm  May 2nd - SemiFormal 7-10pm  May 2nd Progress Guidance News – Cathy Morris Grades Close April 4th – WNESU 2nd Annual Career Expo at BFUHS – ask your child how they enjoyed this event!!
