Aim : Understand how preproduction such as concept art and story development can help my animation . - I will challenge myself for pre-production by experimenting with story development . - I will do research into filmic language to make my narrative more interesting , - I will push myself to create experimental concept art .

I spent a lot of time developing lots of potential stories . I used my research and chose # 40 Go on a nature walk of the National Trusts “ 50 things to do before your 11 3 / 4 list .” I was stuck some time on the ending . The revelation of the ending happened at formative . I was over complicating the ending and feedback from Dan , Dev and Sanjay allowed me to arrive at a simple ending ! I would use the animation to show how man and animal should be mutually respected .

Story development is important to bringing the story to life . I analysed filmic language and how I could use this in my concepting and creations . If you scroll down my research tab there is a huge abundance of analyse of filmic language . I looked at colour , lighting , composition and music to see how I could convey my story . This research allowed me to understand elements I was sometimes not considering . For instance lighting can shape an atmosphere . I looked at Hitchcock to draw how he crafted dangerous scenes to inspire shots in my animation .

To challenge myself I wanted to really consider constructing a strong storyboard , to understand how films utilised shots to be interesting and poignant . The National Trust represent the conservation of national beauty for generations to come . I wanted to show the importance of conservation and protecting British Wildlife and nature . I decided to play with the idea of seeing the animals point of view as well as the child . I wanted to emphasise how there should be a mutual respect between animals and humans . Therefore playing with the points of view meant I was able to create interesting shots and meaningful shots . I feel by doing the research of composition and framing , seen on my research tab on my blog , allowed me to explore this idea and fulfil the objective to use story development to strength narrative . This composition also made it interesting for children to view the world from different perspectives .
