REVIEW

Safety & Health Expo is the largest global gathering of health and safety professionals in Europe , held over the course of 3 days ( 20 - 22 June 2017 ). The exhibition takes place annually at ExCeL London , located in the capital ’ s Docklands area . With two on-site DLR ( Docklands Light Railway ) stations , parking for 3,070 cars and London City Airport just 5 minutes away , ExCeL London is easily accessible . There are several hotels conveniently located nearby , including Crowne Plaza , Novotel , Ibis , and the unique floating Sunborn London Yacht Hotel . If you ’ re happy to venture slightly further afield , more economical options are available , including Airbnb rooms just 10 minutes ’ walk away .

Entry is free of charge and your complimentary pass also grants admission to Facilities Show , IFSEC International , FIREX International , Field Service Management Expo and Professional Clothing Show ; all of which take place concurrently with Safety & Health Expo . The venue is also host to the prestigious RoSPA Health & Safety Awards .
Safety & Health Expo is part of ( event organiser ) UBM EMEA ’ s Protection & Management Series . The series hosts over 1,600 suppliers showcasing 200,000 products across safety and health , workwear , facilities , fire , security , and field service management , and attracts more than 45,000 visitors every year .
This year , 13,942 health and safety professionals attended Safety & Health Expo from over 62 countries worldwide . All the major industry associations exhibited , including RoSPA , British Safety Council , IOSH , IPAF , PASMA , Ladder Association , UKATA and Eurosafe , along with hundreds of consultants , distributors , manufacturers and health and safety experts .

Upon arrival at ExCeL , what became immediately apparent as we began to explore was the size and scale of the event - there really was so much to see ! Even over the course of 3 days , it ’ s quite difficult to take everything in as there is so much on offer .

As well as showcasing the latest products , services and technologies from leading suppliers ( of which many were offering exclusive discounts to attendees ), the event offered a comprehensive educational programme featuring over 75 hours of CPD ( Continuing Professional Development ) accredited content . This included the latest legislation updates , practical guidance and information around key policies governing the sector .
A 1:2:1 Legal Clinic was on offer that included free legal advice and support . In addition , there was access to an energetic , if somewhat cheesy (!) PPE , workwear and corporate wear Fashion show ( Professional Clothing Show ), with live Catwalk models / performers .
UBM provided a free 1:2:1 meetings programme so visitors could schedule meetings with exhibitors and clients before the show – a helpful addition that saved a lot of time . ExCeL also played host to several industry awards ceremonies and exclusive networking events .

After all this excitement , we needed some refreshments . As VIP guests , we were treated to sandwiches , snacks , fruit and soft drinks in the dedicated VIP area . Later on in the afternoon , wine , beer and nibbles were also provided , free of charge , which was most welcome . The VIP area was a great place to catch up with clients and friends , and to make new acquaintances .

If you aren ’ t lucky enough to experience the VIP treatment , there are over 16 food and drink outlets to choose from at ExCeL . Outlets open from 8am for breakfast and remain open until event closing time .
