Celebrations have been taken to the next level in Marlborough , thanks to a new business dedicated to creating beautiful party platters brimming with delicious homemade goodies .
Owner and operator of Janine Homemade , Janine Kydd , starting making platters for family and friends after the birth of her son Louis , 11 months ago .
The registered nurse had left her muchloved job to take care of her first child and wasn ’ t relishing the idea of putting him into daycare to return to work .
So , drawing on her passion for food and baking , the enterprising young mum began a venture that enabled her to work from home .
“ I ’ ve always wanted to run my own business , so it was as good a time as any to give it a go ,” Janine says .
“ I was so surprised at how quickly it took off - people have loved the concept , it ’ s been a crazy few months , but I ’ ve loved every minute .”
Not only has she been figuring out the whole parenting gig , she ’ s also been navigating through the process of establishing a business , while running the business .
Janine Homemade provides a range of gorgeous grazing tables , platters and hamper boxes for corporate and private events , including christenings , baby showers , birthdays and weddings .
The self-confessed baking addict makes everything in her kitchen at home , from spreads such as her famous sweet capsicum dip and hummus with burnt sage butter , to curried popcorn , spiced pear chips and beautiful , decadent , dense layer cakes .
She spends hours baking and cooking , before transporting it to the venue
