W
hen our friend Hamdy Abbass asked my
husband Peter and me to travel with him and
his wife, Magda, to Egypt, we were hesitant.
But after some contemplation, the reminder
that Egypt was on the bucket list and that we heard great
reviews from people who had been on one of Hamdy’s earlier
trips, we acquiesced.
Hamdy and Magda graciously invited us to their home
for a trip orientation and an introduction to the food of
Egypt. Magda had prepared a “light lunch” — pita bread,
baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, chicken and beef kabob, tahini,
hummus, koshari, and desserts. It was a very tasty presentation
of what was to come!
