ith Canada celebrating 150 years of confederation, we’ve

Treaty 6 territory, the area we know as Edmonton has also been
known as Amiskwacîwâskahikan (or Beaver Hills House) since it
was first inhabited by Indigenous peoples around 3000 BC—or
as early as 10000 BC. After the first European settlement was
established at Fort Edmonton in 1795—and now as a home to many
cultures and year-round celebrations—Edmonton has known many
more names: River City, Festival City, Gateway to the North, and
the City of Champions. With non-stop festivals, thought-provoking
