Teams are invited to bring 4 players and any individuals to participate. Girls whose school does not have a team are invited to participate as Individuals. Cathy Hill, the Foundation’s Secretary, says the WSCGA Junior Foundation Board started this event because they “realized that there was an untapped pool of young girls who are never really exposed to a real junior golf tournament. Many young girls start playing in high school and have never touched a club before they come to the team. Many of the parents have never played golf before and there’s not much opportunity for the girls to improve their game. They often feel they aren't good enough to participate in the normal summer tournaments. Most would never have the chance to play in a two day event such as this tournament, as normally they only play 9 hole matches. We wanted to reach a broader population of girls from all backgrounds and experience levels and show them what it was like to play in a well-run junior event. There are also very few two day tournaments for high school WSCGA Continued girls to play in, there are quite a few for boys. The girls, Page 8
