WHERE BOCA GRANDE COMES TOGETHER. THE GREAT ADVENTURES AND EXPLORATIONS LECTURE SERIES The goal of the series is to raise awareness of critical environmental, political and social issues through the lens of some of the world’s most intrepid adventurers and explorers, both past and present. The audience will be introduced to the daring men and women who go (or have gone) farther than anyone else to discover new places and things. We plan to identify historical experts who will explore the world of Genghis Khan and Lewis and Clark, as well as modern-day adventurers who will take the audience into the heart of the jungle and the top of the world. Our first lecturer, Steve Winter, comes to us through National Geographic. Since this is a brand new program, ten sponsors are being sought to underwrite the cost of the speaker fees and transportation. Please consider joining Alice and Dave Court with a sponsorship of $500. Sponsors will receive two tickets with reserved seating and will be listed in both the event program (if available) and in the Friends’ Annual Report. Sponsors also receive a charitable gift letter for tax purposes. GREAT ADVENTURES AND EXPLORATIONS Monday, January 19, 2015 | 3:30pm | Auditorium | $40 Steve Winter has been attacked by rhinos in India, stalked by jaguars in Brazil, charged by an 11-foot grizzly in Siberia, and trapped in quicksand in the world’s largest tiger reserve in Myanmar. He has slept in a tent for six months at 40° below zero tracking snow leopards, flown over erupting volcanoes, and visited isolated villages where residents have never before seen a blond foreigner – or a camera.
