Top tips for A WINNING DAY

FASHION ARABELLA KULLACK
The spring racing season has kicked off and the count down to Melbourne Cup has begun !
As we begin preparing for the race that stops the nation , here are my top tips for ensuring you have a winning day at the racetrack , whether it be Flemington , Cannon Park or anywhere in between .

1 . Stay Hydrated

Stay hydrated : A day at the races can mean a lot of time outdoors in the sunshine . As the temperatures begin to climb , don ’ t forget to hit the H2O regularly throughout the day .

2 . Put Your Best Foot Forward

Put your best foot forward : Ladies , be kind to your feet ! If wearing heels ( as most of us usually do ) try and find a pair that you feel comfortable walking and standing in , as chances are you will be spending a fair bit of time on your feet . Also , if you are using public transport or are travelling to the track , bring a pair of foldable flats to change into . They might also come in handy if the urge to whip off your heels overcomes you ! Shoe inserts and heel guards can also prove useful and provide extra comfort .

3 . Power On

Power on : If you haven ’ t already , invest in a portable phone charger . This will ensure you are contactable and can place that last minute bet ( or take one more happy snap ) if necessary .

4 . Fashion Forward

Fashion Forward : If you plan on entering Fashions on the Field , make sure you check the fashions criteria , and find out starting times to avoid any last minute rush . Also , double check to see if the race day is themed and if so , dress accordingly . For example , Derby Day traditionally has a black and white dress code .

5 . It ’ s In The Bag

It ’ s in the bag : If travelling with a group of friends , put together a small emergency bag full of bandaids , tissues , safety pins , Nurofen , bobby pins and anything else that might be needed to save the day ! Happy racing !
