BacK to school

Meals & Treats

Back to school meals are often a source of panic for parents. Whether it's meals for kids' lunch boxes or meals for extremely busy weeknights and even after-school snacks, we can all agree that kids and teens eat a lot!

Orange Fizz

Ingredients

2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice

½ cup simple syrup

2 ½ cups club soda

How To

Simple Syrup: Take one cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water and heat in a small saucepan until the sugar has dissolved. Turn off heat immediately after the sugar has dissolved.

Soda: In a pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed orange juice and club soda. Start by adding ½ cup of simple syrup and taste for desired sweetness. Add more simple syrup, if needed

Strawberry Toaster Tarts

Ingredients

2 store-bought puff pastry sheets

1 pound fresh strawberries, roughly sliced

½ cup honey

1 tablespoon water

1 egg, beaten

How To

Heat the oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit. Take a cookie sheet and place some parchment on top.

Take a small sauce pot and add the strawberries, honey and water. Cook down until the strawberries turn into a thick, jammy consistency.

Take each sheet of puff pastry and cut them into quarters. Take about 1 tablespoon of the strawberry filling and add it to the center of four sheets. Take the other four sheets of cut-out puff pastry sheets and place them on top and seal the edges with a fork. Take the egg and brush the tops of the tarts, then bake in the oven until golden brown for about 25 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before eating
