At Ayrshire College we want to make
your business our business. With courses
supporting key industry sectors like
engineering, hospitality and tourism,
health and social care, and construction,
we can meet your skills needs.
For example, hundreds of Ayrshire College
students will be trained in the latest technology
for CNC programming, gaining vital skills in
demand by industry, thanks to major investment
in a state of the art Mazak Machining Centre, the
only one of its kind in a Scottish college.
We are developing Ayrshire’s young workforce
through partnerships with local industry. These
relationships have been recognised with the
College being Highly Commended for an

recently.
This recognised the creative approaches the
College is taking to support employers, such as
an innovative pre-apprenticeship engineering
programme which helps young people gain vital
on-the-job experience. Building on the success
of this programme, GE Caledonian worked with
the College to create a bespoke course to meet its
needs and the company now recruits its apprentices
only from Ayrshire College. Going further, the
College and GE Caledonian created a sectorleading schools programme where fifth and sixth
year pupils attend the College on a day release
programme to undertake key elements of the preapprenticeship programme, while continuing with
science and technology subjects at school.
