PHYSICIANS DAY IN FRANKFORT
The annual Physicians Day at the Capitol will
take place on February 10 in Frankfort. That day,
physicians will schedule meetings with Jefferson
County and state legislators regarding important
health care legislation.
On the same day, GLMS will host a Legislative
Reception from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. for Jefferson
County Legislators and physicians at Berry Hill
Mansion. GLMS members are invited to attend
and meet their representatives in an intimate
face-to-face social setting. Berry Hill Mansion is
located at 700 Louisville Rd. in Frankfort. A “Taste
of Kentucky” featuring select bourbons and food
pairings will be offered.
KMA and GLMS are focusing on four legislative
priorities for the 2016 session: Fair Contracting,
Smoke-Free Kentucky, Maintenance of Certification and Medical Liability Reform as well as other
issues developed by the GLMS Policy & Advocacy
Team. If you are passionate about these issues,

Physicians Day at the Capitol will begin at 8:30
a.m. in the Capital Annex Building. The day will
include Opioid Prescribing and Medical Cannabis
forums worth a combined 3.5 AMA PRA Category

LOBBYING 101 FOR UOFL
PEDIATRIC RESIDENTS
The Louisville Bar Association and GLMS recently
teamed up for a Lobbying 101 course for pediatric residents to learn the standard protocol of
communicating with their state representatives.
More than 50 medical students visited Kosair
Children’s Hospital on Tuesday, January 12, for
an hour of education. The presentation by Riggs
Lewis, JD, emphasized procedures for talking to
legislators, what issues to address, how to stay
on task and more.
KMA and GLMS have made headway in recent
years with Kentucky representatives by building
working relationships in Frankfort. The goal of this
