St. Margaret’s News
June 2015
St Margaret’s Uniting Church Hackett is an inclusive, welcoming
and caring Christian community which highly values engagement
with the wider inner north community of Canberra.
22 June: the 38th anniversary
of the Uniting Church in Australia
Also, Uniting Multicultural Festival is celebrating its second year in June and is quickly
becoming a popular event for urban and rural multicultural communities to share and
promote their diverse cultures. Created and managed by the Synod of New South Wales
and the ACT, through Uniting Mission and Education, the Festival provides a unique
space for the Church’s large multicultural membership and multicultural public to
celebrate their richly diverse and vibrant gifts together in food, stories, produce, craft,
creative artistic performances and live entertainment.
Thousands are expected to participate in the Festival from at least six of the world’s
continents, including Africa, East & South Asia, Europe, Latin/North/ South America,
Middle-East, and many from the Pacific Islands. An Ecumenical Multicultural Service of
Thanksgiving will commemorate and celebrate the Uniting Church in Australia’s 38th
Anniversary of Union in June 1977, as part of the Uniting Multicultural festival.
