St. Margaret’s News June 2015 St Margaret’s Uniting Church Hackett is an inclusive, welcoming and caring Christian community which highly values engagement with the wider inner north community of Canberra. 22 June: the 38th anniversary of the Uniting Church in Australia Also, Uniting Multicultural Festival is celebrating its second year in June and is quickly becoming a popular event for urban and rural multicultural communities to share and promote their diverse cultures. Created and managed by the Synod of New South Wales and the ACT, through Uniting Mission and Education, the Festival provides a unique space for the Church’s large multicultural membership and multicultural public to celebrate their richly diverse and vibrant gifts together in food, stories, produce, craft, creative artistic performances and live entertainment. Thousands are expected to participate in the Festival from at least six of the world’s continents, including Africa, East & South Asia, Europe, Latin/North/ South America, Middle-East, and many from the Pacific Islands. An Ecumenical Multicultural Service of Thanksgiving will commemorate and celebrate the Uniting Church in Australia’s 38th Anniversary of Union in June 1977, as part of the Uniting Multicultural festival.
