Vol . 12 , Issue : 10,11 October , November 2020 QUAD – A DANGEROUS IMPERIALIST DEATH TRAP
The people in the Countries of Asia – Pacific region earnestly wish to have peace and security in the region and enjoy the right and freedom to navigate with no hurdles in sea waters . But this region as well as sea waters were already turned into an arena of tensions , competitions and mobilizations by the big powers which are out to dominate the region and sea routes .
Ever since China opted for a capitalist path of development it is busy in expanding its relations , economic and trade activities in the world and countries and sea waters of Asia – Pacific region . On one side , it is doing everything to influence the policies of the countries in the region and on the other side , it is repeatedly declaring its opposition to the attempts by some powers to dominate the region and the sea routes .
US , which had come to the fore as a big world power in the post Second World war period , is working with a strategic design to impose its domination over the Asia – Pacific region and sea routes . For decades , it is maintaining its military bases in Japan , Australia , South Korea , Diego Garcia and other islands . It is in strategic alliance with Japan and Australia . It is roping other countries under its wings and influence . The US imperialists had drawn India too into their strategic alliance and also the so called QUAD constituted with US , Japan and Australia . They are giving utmost importance to their hold on India as they believe that India ’ s geographical setting , vastness , rich and abundant resources are of imminence use to realize their strategic aims of domination .
The so called Quad met in Oct , 2020 in Tokyo at ministerial level after a lapse of 13 years . It claims “ the maintenance of a rule – based order , freedom of navigation and resolution of disputes in Asia – Pacific region ” as its aim . But for US it is virtually an Asian NATO directed against China .
The US imperialists are anxious to develop India into a powerful anti – China base and to push through their hegemonic activities in Asia – Pacific region . They believe that India sinking deeper into anti – China activities would force India to depend more on US and it becomes more easy to utilize India in the their hegemonic designs in Asia – Pacific region and the World . This is why they are very much enthusiastic in India ’ s worsening relations with China . They never conceal their happiness at the present tensions , small skirmishes and stand offs on India- China borders . They could not restrain their impatience at the attempts to avoid tensions , prevent clashes and reach possible agreements , at least to maintain status – quo on the borders . They openly warn India that dialogue is utterly futile . They are persistently preaching the Indian rulers that a real and lasting solution lies in the total destruction of China and the Indian rulers must prepare for it . US thinks that continuing tensions , conflicts , war – like situations between India and China or India and Pakistan provide vast avenues for US to further tighten their own strangle hold on India .
On Oct , 9 th , 2020 , the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said : “ As partners in the Quad , it is more critical now than ever that we collaborate to protect our people and partners from the Chinese
