WHERE THE BEST IN THE TREE CARE INDUSTRY COME TOGETHER

After a long season of record heat and seemingly endless rain , September 27 featured fair skies as more than 400 green industry professionals came together for MAA ’ s Annual Fall Field Day at the German Club in Walpole , MA . The new event location , afternoon schedule , and cookout were a big hit with the crowd .

Members took advantage of the beautiful day to demo labor-saving equipment , check out the newest trend-setting gear , and learn more about the latest technology for the green industry .

Educational sessions were well-attended , and the speakers got great reviews . The outside program offered instruction on pruning conifers , proper tree planting , and chipper safety . Classroom sessions included selling in a sluggish market , the benefits of using brine in snow and ice management , and an update on pests and diseases seen this year at UMass ’ diagnostic lab .

Thanks to the MCA Committee , members enjoyed testing their identification skills with the Plant ID Challenge . Congratulations to Tim Johnson of Estabrook Landscaping who won the contest ( and bragging rights ). ( continued pg 18 )
