TM Annual Celebration & Gala 2019 Saturday, March 23, Lighthouse Christian Ministries held our Annual Celebration and Gala at the Lone Star Flight Museum. The Gala was held in one of the museum hangars where vintage aircraft restored to pristine condition lined the walls. Nearly 400 of our friends and neighbors joined us in a celebration of all the blessings God bestowed upon the ministry and our community during 2018. The evening was filled with delicious hors d'oeuvres, an incredible variety of silent auctions items, exciting flight simulators, party games and raffles, a donut wall, and a gourmet dinner. This year, however, LCM planned an extra special surprise: a new and exciting trend in banquet and gala entertainment, the silent disco. All the partygoers who wanted to get out on the dance floor wore headphones equipped to switch between three very different genres of music supplied by one DJ. One Gala attendee was heard commenting “I’ve never seen people disco dancing and country line dancing on the same dance floor! It was awesome and hilarious all at the same time.” Another new event this year was the introduction of the Lighthouse Distinguished Service Awards. “This past October, we lost a true friend in Dr. Rudy Fulton,” said Erika Steele, LCM Executive Director. “I don’t know if we ever really told him just how much he meant to Lighthouse and how much we loved him. Therefore, we will present the Distinguished Service Award each year to those who have generously given of themselves for this ministry so they will know how much we appreciate their service.” Five outstanding supporters of Lighthouse were honored for the inaugural award: Dr. Rudy Fulton, founder of the LCM dental ministry; Paul McElroy, a long-time board member whose foresight and business skills have guided the ministry; Dr. David Vanderweide, another selfless supporter and long-time board member; Dr. Paul Torre, whose vision helped establish and guide the medical ministries; and Terri Lera, whose mentorship served the LCM educational programs as a long-time board member.
