Advisors must gain the trust of their clients , wholesalers must develop ongoing business from advisors , and carriers depend on shoring up a flow of business from a distribution system that is both wide and deep with product options and alternatives . As a result , the subject of technology can be a particularly thorny one . Our societies ’ search for improved efficiencies increases the probability that a business will trip over itself and irritate or alienate its customer base .
