To give physicians a window into the nature of this disease, Dr. Roberts and GLMS invited members to The Healing Place Women’s Campus for the annual Presidents’ Celebration, held May 22, 2016. The Healing Place, founded by GLMS in 1989, is one of the most successful addiction centers in the nation, treating hundreds, if not thousands, fighting addiction each year. Introducing Dr. Roberts, Outgoing GLMS President Robert Couch, MD, MBA, praised the work done by The Healing Place, saying it “stands as a beacon of light and hope in the community, helping those who feel lost in addiction.” Dr. Couch Outgoing GLMS President Robert Couch, MD, MBA, left, shakes hands with new President John Roberts, MD. then welcomed Dr. Roberts to the podium and presented him with the ceremonial president’s gavel, the banging of which officially began his 2016-2017 presidency.
