Addicts would not be Continued on page 5 Celebration By TED REMSNYDER When the Walden Village Board approved a Waterfront Evaluation Plan back in January that detailed a transformation of Riverfront Park into a destination site for recreation, the final missing piece of the puzzle was acquiring the money to make its proposal a reality. At its meeting last Tuesday, the board announced that State Senator Bill Larkin had obtained $150,000 in state grant funding to carry out the project, which will pay for the construction of a boardwalk at the Marcus “Mickey” Millspaugh Riverfront Park and Boat Launch. The funding is expected to cover the cost of the entire project, and work at the site is projected to commence after the winter. Once finished, the renovations will allow residents to enjoy outdoor activities in a scenic setting. “As we navigate through the hustle and bustle of our hectic lives, it is important for our residents to have the opportunity to relax and enjoy outdoor activities,” Larkin declared in a statement. “I am proud to have secured this funding for the Village of Walden so they can provide a fun and free place for families to visit the Wallkill River and discover all that it has to offer.” In June, the village renamed the site after Millspaugh in honor of his Continued on page 4 Bond Brungard The Wallkill boys soccer teams celebrated their Mid Hudson Athletic League Championship last week.
