I am Matt Drew, the new K-12 Principal for Litchfield Public Schools. I grew up on a farm north of Kearney and went to school in Pleasanton. I went to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and did my student teaching at Lincoln Northeast and Northstar. After that I knew I wanted to get back to small town Nebraska. I taught and coached at Giltner for the last ten years. While at Giltner I was the assistant football coach and head basketball coach. I was also able to coach my cousin Drew Ott, who went on to get a full ride scholarship to play football, and this is why you will seeing me wearing an Iowa Hawkeye hat. We had some great teams and won two basketball state championships and one football state championship. I received my Masters in Educational Leadership from Doane College in May of 2016. In October of this year I will be married to my wife, Bevin, for three years. Bevin teaches English and coaches for the Grand Island Northwest district. We have bought a house in Hazard and have done some remodeling. Bevin is an avid volleyball player, and we look forward to being part of the Litchfield Community. I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you and your families. I am very excited to be your new principal and look forward to continuing the work of making Litchfield Public Schools a school of EXCELLENCE. Sincerely, Matt Drew 1
