The days start early and stretch late into the night, and there’s still a lot of work to be done before winter makes its appearance. We’ve seen A LOT of tax changes recently. At the federal level, we’ve had to contend with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which has brought about some pretty major modifications for everybody. And, at the state level, the Supreme Court’s monumental ruling on the South Dakota v. Wayfair case now makes it possible to have nexus (and thus owe taxes) in a state without actually having a physical presence there. Right now, as we collectively embark on unknown territory, the best thing you can do is to seek out the expertise and insight from trusted advisors. Too much has changed, and no one can afford to go into 2019 doing the same things they’ve done in the past. In this edition of Rise & Shine, we will dive further into the importance of conducting a year-end business checkup. We will also take a closer look at like-kind exchanges, bonus depreciation, succession planning, what assistance is available to you as part of the Market Facilitation Program and what the farm of the future looks like. I hope you find this publication valuable. And, as always, if you have questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me or any member of our team!
