Mike and Maryclaire Sampognaro, owners of Morgan Hill Cellars, take pride in offering a uniquely unpretentious experience at their winery. “We really want people to come here and be very comfortable,” Maryclaire said. “They don’t have to pretend anything when they get here. In particular their black- berry merlot and their cherry blossom cabernet sauvignon are very popular, and easy to drink.” The sweet wines are part of the mainstay of the previous owners, the Pedrizzetti family, and since Morgan Hill Cellars is one of very few wineries that make them, they maintained them. “A lot of other wineries will send customers who like the sweet wines to us,” she said.
