With a dash of Mediterranean luxe and buckets of of blooms , this Tropical North Queensland celebration was a perfect blend of family , fun ( and florals !) for Sam and Jye . When this couple first met , neither was looking for new love , although Jye certainly made an impression . “ Jye ( an electrical contractor ) had come to install air conditioners where I was living in Mission Beach ,” she says . “ I remember getting home and seeing this very good-looking man standing in my laundry !” A year later , their paths would once again cross on a night out in Jye ’ s hometown of Townsville . “ One thing led to another and we haven ’ t stopped talking since ,” says Sam . After Sam ’ s move to Townsville , where she now runs wedding and events business Fig & Fleur , the couple embraced life together in the tropics . And it wasn ’ t long before Jye was hatching a very special proposal plan . The couple was enjoying a few sun-soaked days on Hamilton Island ( their go-to Christmas / New Year holiday spot ), with both families . After a day cruising around Whitehaven Beach on Jye ’ s family boat , Jye whisked Sam away to a secluded island . “ Everyone saw us leaving on the little boat and thought , ‘ This must be it !’” says Sam . “ They were all in on the surprise !”
