Resources • Training • Grants New Chief Executive Officer joins Leaders of Worship and Preachers Trust LWPT is delighted to welcome Ian Buchanan. Ian has come to LWPT from Wycliffe Bible Translators. He joins us with a life-long passion for developing the ability of God’s people to communicate God’s word in a way that is true to the text as well as transformative for the audience. Ian Buchanan To put it in his own words, “I have a deep-seated conviction that God wants his people to look and sound ever more like the message we proclaim. And as the message is all about our Lord Jesus Christ our commitment to grow in Christlikeness is essential. Since God’s people grow primarily (but not exclusively) through being reshaped by God’s word, it becomes crucial for all of us to become walking commentaries on Scripture. Becoming those free samples of Jesus to all who wish to know what our Lord is like”. ICHTHUS SUMMER 2020 This is a crucial time for LWPT. We will keep reshaping ourselves around our historical desire to see that the leaders who are responsible for developing God’s people are well equipped for the task. We are very grateful for your prayers, time and money and all the support that God has used to bring us this far. Please pray for us as we move LWPT into the next gear. Especially as we consider more ways to engage the wider church with support for those who God uses to develop His people through His word. David Latter, Chair of LWPT’s Trustees commented, “We are delighted to have appointed Ian as our new Chief Executive Officer. Ian brings with him a wealth of experience in Wycliffe Bible Translators, Pilgrims’ Friend Society and Langham Partnership. He has already ‘hit the ground running’, following in the good work that Amelia led for us and is making progress in taking LWPT forward in new directions. Despite the limitations of Covid-19, there are exciting times ahead for us and, in his role as Chief Executive Officer, Ian will be making strong connections with leaders of the many denominations in the UK. Ian has the full support of the Trustee Board and staff and I wish him well as he takes on this new role.” LWPT, Unit 14, Orbital 25 Business Park, Dwight Road, Watford, WD18 9DA 01923 231811 | [email protected] | www.lwpt.org.uk | Reg. charity no. 1107967 1
