October 2018 The Sparta Ambassador fdg Fall Fest is Upon Us It’s official. School is back in session, the temperatures have dropped, the leaves are changing color and apples, cinnamon, pumpkin spice, and everything nice is back in season. It’s Autumn!! Which means Sparta’s Fall Fest is just around the corner. Around the corner, indeed. Scheduled for October 13 th , Sparta’s 2018 Fall Fest has activities that is sure to enchant audiences of all interests and ages! Beginning at 8 am vendors, shopping, and the Farmer’s Market will kick off the day’s festivities. A Pie contest will be taking place at Grantie Anne’s Studio, on Oak Street. Pie Drop-off begins at 9 am, if you’re planning on entering a pie into the contest, you can preregister Online by clicking HERE. Otherwise, you can register when you drop off your pie at 9am. Judging will take place at 10 am, the grand prize winner will receive a $50 grocery gift certificate! At 11 am head on over to buy a slice of the pies. Proceeds from the pie sales will benefit the Sparta Parks & Rec Youth Scholarship fund. From 9 - 11 am FREE family photo sessions will be taking place in Evans-Bosshard Park. At 11 am The Pink Poodle is hosting an annual Pet Parade at Memorial Park (look for shelter #2). Also at 11 am on The Franklin Street Bridge the Sparta Youth Hockey Association will begin their Duck Race. With over $1,000 in prizes this is a race you don’t want to miss! You don’t need to be present to win, so make sure to stop on down and buy ducks early. If you’re more of an afternoon person, we have you covered...from 1-3 pm there will be an afternoon session of family photos taking place. Additional free activities at Evans-Bosshard Park will include a Make & Take Scarecrow Event, a Pumpkin Picking area, Make-your-own Sparta Rocks and Hay rides that will transport you from Mueller Square to Evans-Bosshard Park! Additional fun will be taking place on the court house lawn, where the Local Monroe County History Room will have their Pioneer Games from 1-3 pm. The Annual Fall Fest Chili Feast and Beer Tasting Event begins at 1 pm and will end at 3 pm. For $10 you can sample every chili, vote on your favorite chili, and redeem a ticket for a cup of your favorite chili! Attendees 21 years and over will also have the option of sampling a variety of beer from Hillsboro Brewing! At 2 pm on the Mueller Square stage will be a Costume Contest! Each registered contestant will receive a Papa Murphy’s Pizza. The Grand Prize Winner will be awarded House of Shadows Tickets! Topping off the night includes a Sadie Hawkins Harvest Dance with Rock Bottom Revival at Evans-Bosshard Park from 5-7 pm. See flyer’s for more details! We hope you enjoy the Fall Fun!
