On Jan . 14 , the Brother Rice community was informed of a donation to the school containing a more-thangenerous sum . A $ 2.5 million donation made by longtime supporters , the Fisher family , is the largest in school history . Another donation , of $ 1 million announced in September , will also help to support the school .

For five decades , the Fisher family has lived and loved our mission . The Fisher legacy began at Rice when Walter and Sis Fisher first sent their son , Greg ‘ 77 , to Rice . Greg and his wife , Lauren , continued the legacy by giving his kids , Kurt ‘ 09 , Grant ‘ 10 , and Reid ‘ 14 , the opportunity to attend Rice . As a result of their relationship to the school , the family decided to make the historic $ 2.5 million donation .

“ Mr . and Mrs . Fisher and their family , and the legacy that they have at Brother Rice , has just been unlike very many other families ,” said President Tom Reidy . “ I mean , there ’ s just a few families in our history that have the level of connectedness to

our school and Catholic schools in the area .”

us celebrate our 60th anniversary , the question arises as to what exactly this money will be allocated toward . Reidy said it will go toward fulfilling the objectives of a strategic plan that has been developed over the last three years .

The strategic plan includes many new and exciting improvements , and the donation will allow some of them

to be put into motion . Rice students returning in 2021-22 , or those starting their freshman year in the fall , can expect to see some pretty major alterations .

Foremost among the improvements scheduled for this Summer are new changes to the ARC and , most exciting of all , a completely renovated locker room . In addition , we will see a new teachers lounge and renovations to D-Wing and our Engineering room .

“ I ’ m really excited to get an updated Engineering space for our students ,” said Engineering teacher Mr . Higdon . “ A new space will really allow me to teach Engineering just like a college class .”
