ICHTHUS - AUTUMN 2019 FORMER DOCTOR WINS SERMON OF THE YEAR 2019 Sermon of the Year 2019 has been won by Clare Masters, an Anglican reader and former palliative care doctor, in an exciting final which took place at London School of Theology (LST). Clare preaching her winning sermon at the live final at LST Preach Magazine and the London School of Theology hosted the national final of the Sermon of the Year event on Thursday 20th June 2019 to celebrate and reward excellence in preaching. The four finalists were given ten minutes to preach on the theme ‘The Power of Love’ before a live audience and a panel of distinguished judges – Antony Billington, Head of Theology at the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity; Anne Calver, Assistant Minister at Stanmore Baptist Church and Dr. Chloe Lynch, LST Lecturer. Clare Masters preached her narrative sermon in front of a live audience and a panel of judges to win the prize of a year’s free tuition at the London School of Theology or alternatively £500 worth of resources. Her winning sermon was an illustrative piece on Jairus’ daughter and the woman with the issue of blood, relating the stories to themes of belonging, hope and healing.
