High School Bible Teacher Job Description
Job summary: To strive towards professional excellence when carrying out the duties involved in
teaching the students entrusted to his/her care; teaching three courses: Israel & the Prophets, The Life
& Teachings of Christ, Acts & the Epistles
Type of position: Contracted 30% part-time position
Instructional Schedule:
Mon: 8:30-11:08 Tues: 8:30-11:08 Wed: 9:27-10:16 Thurs: 8:30-11:08 Fri: 8:30-10:16
(Two paid prep periods, recommended for Mondays 11:08-12:00, Fridays 10:16-11:08)
Key Responsibilities:
Understand, embrace, and actively work towards the fulfillment of the CCS mission to engage
and educate young people to know Christ and be equipped to impact the world for God's
Kingdom
Be committed to Christian education
Instruct in a manner that engages high school students in biblical study, encourages personal
application, and facilitates discussion
Be actively engaged in the continuous development of curriculum for one’s assigned grade level
Collaborate effectively with the other teachers on one’s team (lower elementary, upper
elementary, middle school or high school)
Project a positive voice for the school
Proactively work in conjunction with the administration
Be actively engaged in ongoing professional development, while staying current on the research
and development pertaining to one’s grade level and/or subject matter
Be an active learner (serving as a role model for students)
View communication with parents as a critical part of one’s job
Place students’ needs ahead of one’s own preferences
Assess students’ learning through a variety of methods
Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs and learning styles of each student
Create a warm, engaging, and Christ-centered learning environment within the classroom

Qualifications:
Committed Christian in support of Christian education
Committed to preserving and nurturing the ecumenical nature of Cornerstone’s mission
Bachelor’s Degree (minimum), ideally in the area of Education
Degree, experience, or training in Biblical Studies
Able to be ACSI certified, though not required below 50%-time
