’ m sitting in an armchair talking to Dave and Gina Domenichini , who are seated on a couch across from me in their new living room . A coffee table keeps us six feet apart . It ’ s late morning and we ’ re bathed in light from the large window and canned ceiling lights . The space looks like a typical 1,500 square foot home with an openfloor design . A large-screen TV is mounted to my left in the nook of a glassed-door bookcase . The vaulted , open-beam ceiling makes the room feel spacious but not overwhelming . The kitchen is to my right . The music , piped in from unseen speakers , is a little loud , but a simple command to Alexa lowers the volume .
While the space can easily serve as a new , modern home with all the amenities , we are sitting in the comfort of their new business venture : Studio 38 Designs — Kitchen and Bath Design Center , located at 17165 Depot St . in Morgan Hill , CA . Dave is the owner / proprietor of award-winning D . R . Domenichini Construction ( DRD ), a general contracting firm that specializes in kitchen and bath remodels . About four years ago , he hatched the idea for Studio 38 . “ Previously , in my construction company , design was a part of the business ,” he said . “ I would tell the client ‘ meet me at the tile store in Gilroy , and then the cabinet store in Cupertino , and then the flooring store in San Jose .’ We were doing a lot of driving around , charging for the design process by the hour , and lugging stuff around to make sure everything matched . So , I thought wouldn ’ t it be nice if we could do that all in one place .”
Gina is the manager of Studio 38 Designs . She brings more than 20 years of corporate marketing experience working for various high technology companies in Silicon Valley and a successful track record creating , project managing , and executing global marketing campaigns . “ It ’ s a welcome transition ,” she said . “ High tech is business to business , but here it ’ s person to person .”
