Letter from the President

This season is my favorite of the year . In addition to the cooler weather , college football and holiday traditions , it ’ s a time to gather with loved ones to share stories , create memories and express gratitude .
As the season unfolds and we enjoy these moments , it ’ s heartening to reflect on the sense of togetherness that defines the collaborative efforts of our donors , board members and community supporters through Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation . Their collective dedication has been instrumental in advancing our
Mission-driven work during the past year .
You ’ ve joined us in so many powerful ways — like at the 24th Annual Celebrating Women Luncheon . Driven by mission and purpose , the Anatole ballroom of 900 supporters raised more than $ 2.5 million to advance the fight against breast cancer . This coming together has real impact for patients like Deborah Michnick , who shared her story at the event . Deborah was diagnosed last year with the most aggressive form of breast cancer and credits a clinical trial with making her cancer nearly undetectable . It ’ s incredible to think about the evolution of cancer care and the advancements that have been made for countless women facing breast cancer because our community has come together year after year to support this important cause .
This is just one of many examples in this issue of The Compass alone . Donors have come together to make sure that patients and families have exceptional medical care and the support needed for holistic healing — giving to provide Arts in Medicine and Child Life Services for patients and families facing health challenges across Baylor Scott & White .
And they ’ ve given to secure the future health of our community , establishing an endowment that will help create a new cardiac critical care fellowship and supporting graduate medical education initiatives through the Grand Rounds ® Golf Tournament .
Many times , big transformations happen in small steps , like the small acts of kindness that happen every day when we look out for each other and collaborate to make meaningful impact . As you wind down this year and look ahead to the new one , know that all of us at the Foundation are grateful for the many ways you have come alongside us with your generosity and support .
