Welcome to October and a new 4-H year.

As I write this, we are finalizing supplies for the 4-H BBQ! We just held a very successful 484H and the Achievement Celebration Committee have put together a great plan! I have been so impressed with how committees have worked together, families have reached out to see where and how they could help, and shown support for each other!

It was so much fun to help our 4-H Ambassadors record radio spots and present to the Barton County Commissioners. We received a very nice thank you letter from the commissioners! The local media and Chambers of Commerce were very supportive of National 4-H Week and the 4-H BBQ so please tell them Thank You if you have an opportunity.

Are you sharing your 4-H story? The theme for National 4-H Week is Opportunity 4 All and I would encourage you to share what 4-H means to you at school, a civic group, work, and on social media by using the social media tags #cottonwoodbt4H #ks4h #opportunity4all #4HGrown Use any of these during the entire month of October as we re-enroll and recruit new members to share in the opportunities of 4-H!

For myself, I was an 8-year member of the Sunflower 4-H Club in Doniphan County! I was involved in sewing, fiber arts/crochet, entomology, and sheep. I learned so much from my community leaders for sewing and crochet but, trust me, I was never going to be a resource for my sheep showmanship skills!
