Truth be told I literally waited years to review
this amp, and when I finally got a chance to
plug it in, it was well worth the wait. This amp
delivers classic Ampeg tone in a box that won’t
break your back – or your bank account!
THE VIBE
“Why all the excitement?” you might ask. First
and foremost, something about the Ampeg
sound resonates deeply with my ‘inner bass
player’. Depending on where and how hard
you play with your right hand, the famed SVT
can go from gentle to giant in a heartbeat. Just
as importantly, the way that amp responds
across that dynamic and harmonic spectrum
makes for an exceptionally satisfying musical
experience.
Ever since I got my hands on the Ampeg
Classic Analog Bass Preamp pedal, it has
become my go-to pedal for bass. As you might
have guessed, that pedal is modeled after the
preamp section of an SVT, and the BA-210v2
is basically adding a power amp and speakers
to the equation along with Ampeg’s esteemed
Scrambler Overdrive. The end result is an amp
that is big on classic Ampeg tone and has more
than enough volume for your average worship
team. Seriously, if you or your Church is in the
market for an amp, for the money you’d be
hard pressed to find something that delivers
this much tonal bang for the buck. This is also
a great amp for youth worship teams!
