The agenda for the first School Board meeting in January also serves as an organizational meeting. The board selects
officers and receives appointments for committee assignments along with conducting annual business functions.
Organizational Meeting
A.
Ceremonial oath
Paul Linnell, Anoka County elections manager, led board members elected in the Nov. 5, 2019 election in a ceremonial
oath of office. Erin Heers-McArdle represents District 1, Marci Anderson represents District 2 and Nicole Hayes represents
District 5.
B.
Election of officers
The School Board selected Marci Anderson to serve as chair, Nicole Hayes as vice-chair, Bill Harvey to serve as treasurer,
and Jeff Simon to serve as clerk.
Organizational actions
C.
Set meeting dates through July 2021.
The School Board approved a listing of planned meetings and work sessions through July 12, 2021.
D.
Designate official depositories.
US Bank, Wells Fargo Bank and the Minnesota School District Liquid Asset Fund were named official depositories.
E.
Designate official investments and financial institutions.
US Bank, Wells Fargo Bank and PFM/Minnesota School District Liquid Asset Fund were designated as official investment
financial institutions.
F.
Delegation of authority for SERVS Financial.
Michelle Vargas, chief financial officer, was authorized to serve as the responsible person regarding the Minnesota
Department of Education’s SERVS financial application.
G.
Designate official newspapers.
The Anoka County Union Herald, Sun Post, Blaine Spring Lake Park Life, and Champlin-Dayton Press and News were
named official newspapers for 2020.
H.
Delegation of authority for electronic funds transfers.
The board approved the chief financial officer, director of finance, accounting manager, accounting financial data specialist
and account to perform electronic fund transfers.
I.
Authorization to sign contracts.
The board approved the superintendent and chief financial officer to sign contracts on behalf of the district.
J.
Expenses of board members.
Expenses of board members remain unchanged from 2019. The board chair will receive $1,300 per month and board
members will receive $1,200 per month to cover expenses incurred in fulfilling their responsibilities.
