JOSHUA GRANDY
BSYO STUDENT, ORCHKIDS STUDENT
“It all started when I was in the first grade.” That’s when Joshua Grandy, then a
student at Lockerman Bundy Elementary, was invited to join OrchKids. Choosing
the cello as his instrument, he stayed after school five days a week, doing
homework and rehearsing with the group. By 7th grade, that diligence led him
to successfully audition for the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras. “I was
nervous before the audition,” he says, “but I pushed through. I made it.”
Continuing with the BSYO into his final year of middle school, Joshua knows
the rewards of hard work. “Playing with the best young musicians from all over
the area has kept me motivated to practice,” he says. With his aspirations to
become a veterinarian, such dedication will be essential in the years ahead.
. . . changes my
future.
