Friendship is sacred . God came to the first garden in the cool of the day , looking for His friends . Tragically , they hid from Him . Yet this does not diminish our Maker ’ s design . God ’ s human children were created for friendship with Him and with each other .

We may think it strange that God is looking for us . Could it mean that in His very nature as Father He desires intimate companionship with His children ? I desire and experience this deep friendship with my children ( now ages 53 to 30 ) and my grandchildren ( 3 years old to 24 ). This must be a reflection of His greater love — a love He designed us for !

Friendship is Laying Down One ’ s Life — saying “ Hineni ”

But what IS a friend ? And what can it mean to be a friend of God , when He is my Creator and Redeemer , the Author of life itself ?

Yeshua , who restores to us this primordial gift , defines true friendship , and then describes us as His friends .
